So... You've Booked a Consultation. Now What?

Firstly... I'm really glad you're here. Booking a consultation can feel surprisingly vulnerable.
It sounds silly, doesn't it? It's only a free 30-minute call with someone you've never met. But for a lot of people, clicking that button is actually a pretty big deal.

Maybe you've been thinking about therapy for months.
Maybe you've opened my website ten times already.
Maybe you've stalked my Instagram, read every page, closed the tab, reopened it, and thought, "Maybe next week."
Then, one random Tuesday evening, you finally booked it.
And almost immediately...
"What have I just done?"
Trust me.
I know that feeling.
I also know what usually comes next.
"What if she's trying to sell me something?"
"What if I don't know what to say?"
"What if I cry?"
"What if I don't cry?"
"What if therapy isn't even for me?"
"What if I end up wasting money?"
If any of those thoughts have crossed your mind, you're definitely not the only one.
So before we even meet, I wanted to write this to show you exactly what happens during a consultation—and hopefully make the whole thing feel a little less scary.
Maybe you're here because...
Maybe you're carrying this quiet anxiety that never really seems to leave, even on the good days.
Maybe you had another argument with your mum and found yourself reacting exactly the way you promised yourself you wouldn't.
Maybe you're dating someone who's giving you the tiniest breadcrumbs, and somehow you've convinced yourself that's all you deserve.
Maybe you woke up next to someone and still felt completely alone.
Maybe you spent the entire weekend drinking, said "never again" on Sunday night... and somehow it's become a weekly tradition.
Maybe food has become exhausting. Restricting. Bingeing. Starting over every Monday. Wondering why everyone else seems to find it so much easier.
Maybe you've become an expert at pretending everything's fine.
Your friends think you've got your life together.
Your colleagues think you're confident.
But inside you're tired.
Really tired.
Maybe you've read every self-help book, listened to every podcast, journaled until your hand hurt, downloaded meditation apps, watched TikTok therapists, and even been to therapy before.
You understand the pattern.
You know where it comes from.
You know your attachment style.
You know why you react the way you do.
...and yet you still can't stop repeating it.
Or maybe none of those examples fit.
Maybe you just know something isn't right anymore.
Life feels heavier than it should.
You don't quite feel like yourself.
You can't explain it.
You just know something has to change.
If that's you...
You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
So... what actually happens?
We jump on a 30-minute video call.
That's it.
Just you and me.
Face to face.
Your space, your time.
This isn't a therapy session.
It also isn't a sales call disguised as one.
I'm not going to spend 30 minutes trying to convince you that I can magically change your life or suddenly offer you a discount if you book today.
Honestly...
That sounds awful.
The consultation is simply a chance for us to meet.
I want to hear what's been going on.
What's feeling heavy.
What's keeping you stuck.
And just as importantly...
I want to find out whether we're actually a good fit.
Therapy is personal.
Not every therapist is right for every person.
And not every client is right for every therapist.
I'd much rather be honest than have you invest your time and money into something that doesn't feel right.
There is absolutely no pressure to book afterwards.
Some people leave the call knowing they're ready.
Some people realise they need a little more time.
Some decide I'm simply not the right person for them.
All of those are completely okay.
What will we actually talk about?
Whatever brought you here.
It might be something really specific.
A breakup.
Anxiety.
Emotional eating.
People-pleasing.
A relationship pattern.
Body image.
Intimacy.
Feeling disconnected from yourself.
Or it might be much harder to explain.
Sometimes people come to the call and simply say,
"I don't know... I just don't feel like me anymore."
That's enough.
We'll also talk about how RTT works, what a session actually looks like, what support I offer, and whether this approach feels like the right fit for you.
You don't need to have your thoughts organised before we speak.
That's part of what the consultation is for.
Do I need to prepare?
No.
No forms.
No homework.
No writing out your entire life story.
If making a few notes helps, great.
If not...
Just come as you are.
What happens afterwards?
If we both feel like it's a good fit, I'll explain which service I genuinely think would help you most and send over everything you need if you'd like to move forward.
If the timing isn't right...
If you decide it's not for you...
Or if you simply need more time...
That's completely okay too.
No pressure.
No awkward follow-up emails.
No guilt.
This consultation isn't about convincing you.
It's about helping you make the right decision for yourself.
A little about me
I'm Hannah.
A Certified Hypnotherapist, RTT Practitioner and Intimacy & Emotional Wellness Consultant based in Amsterdam, working with clients online in English and German.
I didn't end up doing this work through a perfectly straight path.
I got here because I know what it's like to understand exactly why you're stuck...
...and still feel completely unable to change.
That's why my work isn't cold or overly clinical.
It's honest.
Grounded.
Sometimes messy.
Sometimes funny.
Always compassionate.
Because I genuinely believe that the things we're most ashamed of are usually the things that deserve the least shame.
Before we meet...
If you're nervous...
Good.
That usually means this matters.
You don't need the perfect words.
You don't need to have everything figured out.
You don't even have to know whether therapy is right for you yet.
Just show up.
Messy thoughts.
Half-finished sentences.
Awkward silences.
They're all welcome.
I'll meet you there.
See you soon,
Hannah x
